I feel like it has been forever since I posted something. Guess I have been waiting for something super awesome and 9 inches of snow sure does qualify. We love the snow and being in Louisville for 3 years made us miss it all the more. When they started closing schools and businesses on Wednesday night (snow didn't start until 7 am Thursday) and words like "Snowmageddon" and "Thundersnow" were being thrown about, we thought it was too good to be true. Especially when we woke up Thursday morning with NOTHING on the ground. We were pleasantly surprised how fast it piled up :)
We have been battling the flu and stomach bugs but how could we not let them go out in it for a little bit. They had a 5 minute time limit and they used up every second.
Notice the tires on Hadley's bike...it was so deep that Joni had a hard time walking in it.
WE LOVE SNOW!
Our dear friends told us about a tradition they do every time it snows....SNOW ICECREAM! How have we not ever heard of this?! We looked up a recipe (milk, vanilla, and sugar) and ate us some snow. Next time I think we will try a chocolate or strawberry variety. We have enough snow to try it a few more times :)
I am aware that Hadley is going to be our "eyes always closed" girl. We are working on it :)
This morning we woke up and decided we better dig the cars out and shovel our sidewalks. Andy attempted to go to work yesterday, nearly got stuck 3 times and ended up at home 30 minutes after he left. It is sunny today and so we bundled up again and enjoyed the warmish day. Joni still isn't feeling 100% but since it was warmer, they were allowed 20 minutes :) Joni was playing in the snow gear trunk.
Snowball fight...
and snow angels.
Joni said, "Look at my little little snowball, Dad!"
Trying to get a picture of how high it is....it would have been better had I had a ruler, but I think you get the picture. We got a lot of snow :)
Hadley's "snowball."
These posted backwards but for Valentine's Day we had heart shaped pancakes for breakfast (Andy put an arrow made of syrup on mine :) ).
And for dinner homemade heart shaped raviolis. These were incredible and if they didn't take so long to make we would have them more often.
Now some random fun. We rented the Wii game Just Dance, Disney version. It was super fun because the girls knew a lot of the songs, and they like dancing too.
One of the BIG things we miss about Louisville was having a pool to swim in whenever we wanted. There are no good indoor (cheap) pools around here and it has been hard not being able to at least once a week like we did in KY. We did find a YMCA that isn't too far away and the girls had. a. blast. I thought we were never going to get them out.
We are trying to be better in shape as a family and it is hard during the winter when it's cold. There's a mall in KC that we decided to walk around one day. Turns out it has a HUGE double-decker merry-go-round.
Hope you are all doing well and staying warm and joyful in your part of the world! Check back soon for our next post which is going to have some special and exciting news!!! Love to you all!
