1 Week Old Today

Anyone who has ever had a child, or watched a child grow, knows that time goes by fast. Only one week ago we were at the hospital waiting :) and now we have a one week old! It has been a blessing and a challenge. Recovering from major surgery is a little different than I thought but Andy and his parents (who arrived on Tuesday) have been so wonderful with everything. I am still pretty sore but know I am on the mend.
Hadley LOVES her sister. She is always wanting to hold her and kiss her. She tries to give her a pacifier whenever she finds one laying around too. We have been trying to give her lots of attention too but it is hard when I can't pick her up or put her to bed but we are trying! Nana and Papa have really helped in this area!
Jonell is already a good baby. Again, we are reminded about how much God has blessed us. She cries when she gets her diaper or clothes changed and when she is hungry. Last night she woke up at 2:30 and then at 6:15 to eat.....I could get used to that! We'll see if it continues or if it was a one time thing!
Since I had a C-section, our little trip out west was postponed. Andy will leave on Saturday since we are supposed to be there on Monday but the girls and Nana and I will leave next week sometime. I have to cleared by the doctor to leave and I have an appointment on Monday morning. Pray that she says everything looks good so we can leave too.
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers during this time. We are loving being parents to two beautiful girls but we have a busy schedule ahead of us. Pray for Andy's mom that she enjoys her time out west too....her and Hadley are going to have a blast together! Pray also that things go smoothly with Joni and me since I'll technically be "working."
We love you all and hope all is well in your neck of the woods!

Welcome Jonell Elizabeth Huber!

There are going to be lots of details in this post for those of you that want to know the exciting events that brought Jonell into the world. Don't worry, there are pictures at the bottom. We don't have a whole lot yet, but I have no doubt that we will. So here goes....since the baby wasn't coming and our doctor doesn't like babies to go over 41 weeks, we were scheduled for an induction on Thursday morning. We got to the hospital right at 7 am and was hooked up to several machines by 8 am. They started pitocin and broke my water and then we waited...and waited...and waited. From 7 am to 2 pm every time the nurse checked me, I was at 2 cm. Then after a couple more hours, I was 2.5, couple more hours 3 cm, couple more hours 5 and that is where I stayed. The baby preferred for me to be on my right side and so that is the position I stayed in for most of the day. They sat me up in bed and dropped the feet part of the bed down to see if gravity would help out the situation...nope.
Then at 9 pm, my doctor came rushing in with some other nurses and declared that she wanted to get the baby out because of the low heart beat and "unhappy" baby as she called her. Then she checked me and tons of blood came pouring out which really freaked her out and then there were 50 people in the room, people yelling at each other, unplugging cords, STAT being said a number of times, GET THE O.R. READY NOW being said a number of times, and me crying but knowing I was in good hands. They rolled me down to the OR for an emergency c-section and ran my gurney into a wall on the way because they were going too fast. Once in the OR, it took about 10 minutes for be to be put on the table, cut open, and Jonell Elizabeth to be born. Andy and I had been praying all day that I wouldn't have to have a C-section and then we read Psalm 13 (the psalm for the day)...."But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation. I will sing to the Lord, because he has dealt bountifully with me." We both decided that were being selfish by wanting what we wanted and not what God wanted. We should be thrilled that we were even able to have a baby and it shouldn't matter how it comes. Anyways, so trusting God and His plan for me to HAVE a c-section it turns out that a c-section was a huge blessing and God is good ALL THE TIME. While taking the baby out, the doctor found a mass/tumor attached to one of my ovaries. It was removed and sent to pathology. Andy said it was bigger than a golf ball. Had we not had the c-section, there was no way that anyone would have been looking for something like that. Again, we can't express how grateful we are to God for helping us submit to His will rather than allowing us to think that we knew what was best. The next pictures are kind of bloody so if you have a weak stomach just scroll down quickly.
Then she was here, I went to recovery and all was well in the world! She weighed 8 lbs and 1/2 oz and was 20 inches long. Breast feeding thus far has been a breeze and she is wonderful! Hadley came to visit this morning and I can tell she already loves her little sister. I hope they are best friends.
