The rest of WY

I have a few more pictures left from our last days in WY......then back to the zoo and swimming and loving life in the 'Ville! We had a little birthday party for Hadley and Grace because they both celebrate in September and it saved money not having to send presents. This is my first fondant masterpiece! As you can see, I cheated and didn't cover it fondant but I did make it from scratch, roll it into snakes, and made "hair" out of it.
If you didn't guess it already, it's a Tangled cake (Rapunzel). Tangled is the new Cars around here and Grace loves it too. The cake was a hit with the kiddos.
Blowing out the candles.
Eating dinner and cake.
Hadley's sweet kitty piano she got from the Finkles. She played that thing all the way back to KY in the car....it was a huge hit and she loves it! It has some songs built in too (about cats) and she has most of those memorized. Thanks so much again for the awesome present!
The fish hatchery up the road comes and stocks the stream by the camp. Andy and Hadley went fishing after we saw the forestry person leave and sure enough.....they got one. Hadley was a little scared of it but was excited all the same....no really, she was excited.
The Browns from our church in Laramie came to visit for a weekend and the boys had a blast (Andy included) doing fun things around camp. Here they are with their hand-made boats they raced down the stream....David's (the little guy in front) boat was the only one that made it the whole way.....(his dad helped him make it).
The crew...it is always encouraging and comforting to fellowship with other brothers and sisters in Christ. Thank you so much for coming to hang out guys!
One of the last weekends we were there, a friend of Andy's from high school got married in Steamboat Springs, CO (a ski resort). We convinced my parents (and by convinced I mean they asked us) to come with us to watch the girls while we went to the wedding. The wedding was at the top of the mountain so we all rode the gondola up together.
Sweet Jo watching the view.....
Hadley thought it was awesome that she was as high as the birds.....
Such an awesome view and the weather was perfect.
Our little family.
At the top.
So, literally (no sarcasm) seconds before the bride walked down the isle, this BEAR comes out of the trees, walks across the road, and back into the trees again. It was crazy and looks far away but isn't. I was glad it decided to make its debut then and not during the wedding.
Apparently Jo likes corn on the cob....she takes after her Oma.
And Hadley likes meat (she takes after her Opa)....this is DELICIOUS home-made sausage from Grandma and Granddad in Montana.
And...........the final installment of the HP restaurant and let me tell you, we went out with a BANG! Strudels my friends......STRUDELS. This is a recipe that only my dad and his mom and siblings know how to make we only get it when the Lutz family is all together. At the last family reunion Andy recorded my grandma making it so the recipe wouldn't be lost forever when none of the grandkids learned how to make it. Well Courtney and I decided it was go time.....and did we GO! I'm not going to give you specifics (because it IS a secret family recipe) but I'll show you just what goes into making the most amazing meal in the world :) First you make some dough.....
And you roll it into a ball and let it rise....
Then you peel some potatoes.....
And cut them up....
And try a little to make sure it tastes ok......
You add some water, onion, and potatoes to the pot.....
And get come cucumbers ready for cucumber salad (a must-have side with strudels)....
Then you stretch the dough and roll it up.....
And cut the rolls into pieces....
Then you put some delicious meat on top of the potatoes....
And the strudels go on top of the meat....
And then you put the lid on and wait.....and you NEVER EVER, no matter how much you want to, no matter what someone pays you, you NEVER EVER LIFT THE LID. Andy (when we was new to the family) tried it once.....and almost died.
Booyah! And we have strudels! And they were good.....as you can tell. These were the first ones out and well.....we enjoyed them.
Jo waiting on strudels and keeping herself busy.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMM....my mouth is watering as I write this.
Success!
Need I say more.....?

Garage-saleing with my mom....always fun, but sometimes it's good to take a break.
Love to you all!

Back to July

So we have been having issues with uploading pictures but finally Andy figured it out and we are back in business. I wanted to post about our family reunion (Lutz side) we had in July to celebrate my Grandma Alice turning 80! We did a lot of laying in the sun and eating so naturally it was a great weekend! The girls (mine and my cousin's (he has 2 too, pretty close in age with Hadley and Joni)) played and played and enjoyed the family time too.

Happy Birthday Grandma!!! We had a wonderful time with everyone and can't wait until the next one. We made it back to Louisville too and are just trying to unpack and get things back to normal. The girls are thrilled to be seeing all their friends again and I see a trip to the zoo in our near future (to see all those friends too :)). Love to you all!
